With over 10 years experience in the social work field, I have a diversity of experience in individual counseling, group facilitation and community engagement, as well as a background in research. I am passionate about issues relating to mental health, supporting military members, Indigenous populations in Canada, LGBTQ+ communities, and housing and homelessness.
My current, full time role is Social Worker at the Trent Hills Family Health Team. I am honoured to also be a Mental Health First Aid instructor. I experience anxiety, including panic attacks, and it is empowering to be in a position where I am teaching Mental Health First Aid, and as part of that, speaking openly about my own struggles, and hearing those of others. Being in this role also gives me an opportunity to learn from fellow instructors and class participants. One of my passions is reducing the stigma around mental illness and teaching the class allows me to be a part of this effort!
